Latest Osmond star makes a name for himself

5:13pm Thursday 30th October 2008
By Graham Moody »
In the year when the Osmonds celebrated 50 years in the music industry, the bandwagon around the family seems nowhere near coming to a halt.
The latest of the Osmond clan making a name for himself is Jared - son of original Osmond brother Virl and nephew of Donny and Marie.
Over the past few years he has created an international buzz around himself through concerts, private sessions and festival appearances, combining elements of jazz, folk, contemporary, classical and Christian music.
Touring with Jared will be Richard Pilkington and Chrissy Mostyn who make up the boy-girl acoustic duo Blackheart, a unique crossbreed of folk, country and rock, from one of the fastest-rising acts of the new alternative country/folk generation.
There will be a special guest in the form of singer-songwriter Victoria BeeBee.
The tour is to largely to promote Osmond’s new album, The Innocent Ones, all the proceeds of which go to his local child abuse centre.
Jared Osmond, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, November 12, 8pm, £16.50. Call 020 8688 9291 or visit fairfield.co.uk.

Helping All Charities Be of ONE HEART

Alan & Suzanne Osmond founded One Heart International, a non-profit organization designed to strengthen families and bring charities together by helping raise awareness and funds for worthwhile causes and organizations back in 1996. Over the past 12 years they have sought to unify charities for the good of all mankind, helping them to be "of One Heart."

This year, One Heart was selected as the exclusive charity for a new professional fund-raising organization called, uPlej (pronounced, "You Pledge"). uPlej.com is a new social networking site that is designed to help raise funds and awareness for YOUR favorite charities. One Heart helps to facilitate the donations to each of the selected charities without ever taking any percentage. The only way One Heart is sustained financially through uPlej is if YOU join THEIR uPlej network (www.uPlej.com/OneHeart) and/or choose them as YOUR charity of choice. What's nice about uPlej is that they allow you can change your charity every single month and spread the love to various causes.

uPlej is breaking down the walls between charities by helping them to come together. When one charity receives a donation on uPlej, so do 3 other charities (See the Donor Program info attached below). In fact, politicians in Utah have said that uPlej is "Brilliant" because it, "democratizes charitable giving." Now the small charities have equal opportunity to make just as much as the "Big Boys" who get all the donations. Governor Huntsman, upon learning about the uPlej model said, "Thank you so much for bringing charity to the youth." Even Utah's own Attorney General, Mark Shurtleff is a "uPlejer." The beautiful part about it all is that One Heart stands at the forefront of it all and is the charity that is helping to make it all possible.

Alan & Suzanne Osmond would like to invite YOU to join their FREE uPlej charity network by going to www.uPlej.com/OneHeart and clicking the little orange button that says, "Join FREE." Once you've filled out your information, be sure to login to the system by entering your username and password and then click "Edit User Profile." This will allow you to build a profile page on uPlej (similar to a Myspace of Facebook page). Once you've done that, you are ready to start inviting YOUR friends to join YOUR uPlej network. The more people that join YOUR network, the BIGGER the impact for YOUR favorite charities. Even if you choose to support a different charity than One Heart, so long as you are in their network, you are still supporting One Heart. "I want to invite all people everywhere to get involved and help make a difference for charity," said Alan Osmond. "uPlej is the best mechanism that I have found that allows you to give BIG without breaking the bank. And that's good news in today's economy!!!"

uPlej is FREE to join. Alan's son Nathan Osmond has already raised over $3,900 for charity over the past couple of months, simply by inviting people to join his uPlej network. Go to www.uPlej.com/OneHeart TODAY and become a "uPlejer" yourself. You'll
be glad you did!!!

Nathan Postpones his U.K. Trip

Hey Everyone,

I need to make a statement and FAST!!!

Jared and I sat down last Saturday to go over the Innocent Ones Tour show and finalize everything. I even recorded a new song in his studio that I am contemplating on adding to my album. After much deliberation, we came to a joint decision that it would be best for me at the present time to stay here in the states and continue working on my album. I just spoke to my Producer, Gary Baker, who is still working on the 7 songs that I just recorded 2 weeks ago. He is going to be sending them to the mixer who mixes The Red Hot Chili Pepper and all of Z.Z. Tops albums. These tracks are gonna sound HOT!!! He was very impressed with the sound that I was able to produce in the studio and is even pouring some of his own money into the project. He said, that he could pitch me to anyone in Nashville as the new Ronnie Dunn. That was a HUGE compliment!!! He is going to see if he can't help me get a record deal here soon.

Because of all that is going on on that end of things, Jared and I have both decided that it would be most productive for me to stay here and finish working on my album and postpone my U.K. return to hopefully sometime next Summer. I lost a lot of sleep over this and I hope that you understand. I want to make sure that when I come over there, that I knock your socks off!!! I know that you are going to like the new sound of Nathan Osmond. I had Big & Rich's guitarist do all the leads. I had Jim Brown (writer of "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere) do all the keys, strings and B3 Organs. Walt Aldridge (writer of "I Loved Her First") do all the acoustic guitars, mandolins and banjos. and many other great musicians on it. Gary Baker (my producer) has written such hits as "I Swear", "I'm Already There", "Once Upon A Lifetime" and many more. He is a grammy award-winnning writer and a dear friend. (see garybakermusic.com). I'm very confident that this album is going to turn some heads in Nashville.

Thanks to all of you who have been so kind to me. I haven't even cancelled my ticket yet. That's how recent this decision was made. I had everything planned, but Jared assured me that staying would be the best thing for me right now. Thanks to Tom Roach for all the hard work he has done to pull the tour together. He is very understanding and is helping to further my career in more ways than one. I send my love to BlackHeart. I love your album. I've been listening to it in my car. Thanks to everyone else that has worked hard on this tour. Jared and I do plan on returning together in the near future. He is laying some groundwork over there to make this possible. Thanks to all of you who bought tickets to come see the show. I'm sorry to let you down. I know that you are going to love seeing Jared. I am so proud of him and all that he is doing. He has an amazing voice and is using his talents for good! You are going to love the show and I will for sure be there in spirit! Thank you for being understanding and for always supporting the Osmond family. I hope that I haven't offended anybody by making this decision. Trust me, I can't wait to get over to the U.K.!!!! I love it there and I promise to return soon. My brothers and I had 3 songs in the top 40 there and this time around, I'd like to see if I can do that again.

Most of all, thanks to all the fans for all your love and support. I will be keeping you updated on the progress of the album. Take care and God bless.

All the best,

Nathan Osmond

Osmond brother to speak at State of Family Summit

By JENNIFER DEAN
The Press-Enterprise

The positive aspects of family will be honored Wednesday at the Family Service Association's State of the Family Summit at the Moreno Valley Conference Center.

Alan Osmond, eldest of the Osmond Brothers, will be the guest speaker at the event.

Osmond, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 22 years ago, stepped off the stage as a performer to begin a new career in motivational speaking, writing and creating family-oriented media.

At the summit he will talk about the One Heart Foundation, a nonprofit organization that brings charities together for worthwhile causes. The foundation is the brainchild of Osmond and his wife, Suzanne.

The story of a boy (in this case, Donny Osmond) and his Porsche (well, actually, Don Marrandino’s Porsche)

A stray anecdote from Donny Osmond from last night’s red carpet at the Agassi Grand Slam for Children. Mr. A Little Bit Rock ’n’ Roll was asked about what it’s like to have his image, along with that of Marie Osmond, splashed across several floors of the Flamingo on the hotel-casino's impossible-to-miss building wrap.

“Isn’t it the coolest thing ever?” Donny said, not waiting for the obvious answer, which would be, “Probably so, yes, Donny.”

Nathan

I know we all look forward to hearing it!

Osmond Genealogy - Are You Related?

Osmond & Davis DNA Genealogy Project

In April 2008, the Osmond & Davis Family Organization (ODFO) began the Osmond & Davis DNA Genealogy Project. The ODFO did so because it was felt that this DNA project could further cement Osmond and Davis family genealogies and provide another research tool for people who wonder if they belong to or are connected to the Osmonds and Davis families of the British Isles and North America. It was also felt that DNA testing could possibly help the ODFO narrow down research requests from different parts of the world by allowing the comparison of DNA's from ODFO members to those of other people requesting ODFO assistance with their research.

Message from Alan & Suzanne

Message of Warning!

We wish to leave a message of warning and advice to all families about the impending danger or evil that we are facing.

We love this poem:

"All the water in the world, no matter how it tried, could ever sink the smallest ship, until it got inside.
All the evil in the world, and every kind of sin, could never damn a human soul . . . UNLESS WE LET IT IN!

Unfortunately, we CANNOT proclaim that "All is well" . . . because we are vulnerable to the destructive forces of evil that are all about us in this SIN-SICK WORLD.

Of the GREATEST concern in this day are these evils which tear at the fabric of the HOME and the FAMILY.

Most of the Sit Coms,Dramas, & Reality Shows contain Immorality, Violence, and subtle ridicule of traditional values, and traditional families. Each year the new shows seem to get worse, pushing the envelope of what the public will accept.

What comes out of Hollywood, and off the Internet, and in much of today's music
creates a web of decadence that can trap our children and endanger all of us. We have virtually given the monopoly to the world of PRIMETIME TV, glorifying the four things that will destroy a civilization:
The Lust for Power
The Lsut for Riches
The Lsu for Popularity
and the Desires of the Flesh.

Largely because of Television, we need continually . . . to fortify our homes and families and defend them against the onslaught of evils . . . such evils are very real, and very threatening. One has but to read the headlines of our newspapers and magazines to become frighteningly aware of the crumbling, destructive influences which surround us.

I am specifically concerned with today's media and the powerful negative effect it can have on families and on family life. The choices we make in media can be symbolic of the choices we make in life. If we choose the TRENDY and the TITILATING and the TAWDRY in TV Programs or in watching MOVIES . . . it can cause us to end up, if we're not careful, of choosing the SAME THINGS in the way we live our lives. If we do not make good choices, the media can devastate our families and pull our children away from the traditional family path.

We live in a time of war, the spiritual war that will never end. War itself now dominates the affairs of mankind. Our world at war, has lost its innocence!

There is nothing, however crude or unworthy, that is not deemed acceptable for movies or plays or music or conversation. The World seems to be TURNED UPSIDE DOWN!

We can live in the world without letting the world into us! Our family values can carry men and women buoyantly through the mist of darkness to the source of ALL LIGHT and truth. We can raise children who have been taught to discern and to make personal good decisions.

We must worship the LORD in truth and keep all of HIS commandments. We must seek for an enlarged capacity to influence the world toward a return to righteousness and a pure love of God.

May the Lord bless us in all our homes and families, as we strive to draw nearer to Him and keep His commandments. We humbly pray.

Jimmy to Appear on "Come Dine with Me" in the U.K.

Jimmy is among the stars taking part in a new episode of Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

The one-hour special will see four well-known personalities attempt to provide the best dinner party and win £1,000 for their charity of choice. The celebrities will use synchronized swimmers, bizarre butlers and a dish so spicy it almost blinds a guest in their attempt to triumph.

Celebrity Come Dine With Me airs in November.

Donny Osmond talks! And sings! And dances! More backstage Vegas chatter from one of Utah's favorite singing sons

Provo's own entertainment name brand, Donny Osmond, is back in Las Vegas, starring in a brand-new - yet nostalgic - variety show with younger sis, Marie. The show at The Flamingo is selling out its 750-seat lounge almost every night.
Before a recent performance, the 50-year-old singer talked to the Tribune from his hotel room, which has a view of a huge billboard of his sister. "They've got me staying right where Marie's teeth are," Osmond said. "I came up with this line and Marie started laughing and said I've got to keep it in the show. It's so bright, because of her teeth, I can never shut the lights out." (more)
