Nathan Osmond Wins First Runner-Up in Mormon Times Summer Showcase

Hey you guys,

I am proud to announce that I won first runner-up in the Mormon Times Summer Showcase last night and took home $2,000!!! Woo Hoo!!! Abby Paulsen won second ruuner-up and Brett Winn won first place. Congratulations to Cameron Nichols, Rachel Sonderegger and Jesse Lacko for a contest well-played. I was honored to share the stage with so many talented young people. We all had a GREAT experience and in my book, we're ALL winners. (To see a video of the awards ceremony, go to http://qik.com/nathanosmond. It was shot on my cell phone camera).

Thanks to ALL of you who voted for me. I have been blown away with the amount of support that has been shown towards me and my music. I am definitely doing what I LOVE and music is my full-time gig. This contest has helped me to get the word out about what I am doing. In fact, just yesterday I received a phone call from Show Dog Records (Toby Keith's Label) and they spent a good hour on the phone with my manager. I have several labels taking a serious look at me right now and so be sure to stay tuned to www.nathanosmond.com.

It's actually 5:20 AM right now and I'm sitting in the Salt Lake International Airport heading to Louisville, KY. I'll be there over the weekend doing a private event.

I will also be doing a concert in Payson, UT coming up on the 3rd of September (read the last posting on my blog) and a show on the 15th at the Tahitian Noni Theater in Provo, UT. I will be posting my performance schedule on my official website, www.nathanosmond.com.

Thanks again to ALL of you who were so kind to vote for my song. I am so blessed to have such loyal fans and friends. This is just the beginning of things to come. I am pouring the money from this contest back into my career. You are going to see some really cool things coming out of the Nathan Osmond camp this year...In fact, I wanted to break the news about something HUGE!!!

I have recently partnered with Donald Trump on a NEW business venture. I have worked with "The Donald" on many occasions. I am also very good friends with his kids, Don, Ivanka and Eric. I just received a letter from Donald the other day, which you can read in my photos on Facebook. They are fighting over my CD right now in his office. I know that there are many people out there who are struggling right now financially. Maybe you and your family are going through some tight times right now as we are in a recession. Many people have written to me on Facebook saying they have recently lost their jobs or have experienced pay-cuts. Perhaps you are one of these persons and you're doing all you can do to stay afloat financially during these difficult times. Well, I want you to know that there is hope! I am helping to opt families out of the recession with what I'm doing with Mr. Trump. If you are interested to know what it is, simply go to http://www.trumpconferencecall.com and watch the webinar I just shot. If you are serious about knowing more about how YOU can join ME on this amazing venture, simply go to http://www.trumpnetwork.com/NathanOsmond and click, "I want to start my business." If you are SERIOUS and have questions, you can CALL ME at 801-850-6668 and I will be sure to help get you Rockin' as well. Be sure to take a serious look at what I'm doing and if you are ready to opt yourself out of the recession, Please, give me a call.

Thanks again for your amazing friendship and for helping me to get the word out about my album, "Feels Like Heaven". Donald Trump may even have me come down to the launch of our new venture in Miami in November to do some of my songs. I will keep you posted on that. Take care and I will talk to you soon.

All the best,

Nathan Osmond

Dancing with the Stars’ Kym Johnson Blogs for OK!

Heading into her seventh season on Dancing with the Stars here in the US — plus three seasons in her native Australia — there are few people as qualified to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the ABC hit. So Kym Johnson has teamed up with OK! to update you every week on the triumphs and travails as she attempts to turn Donny Osmond into a ballroom champion!.

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my Dancing with the Stars blog for OKmagazine.com! In the coming weeks, I will be sharing all my season nine experiences with you, from the first rehearsals to the competition itself, which begins on ABC on Sept. 21.

As you all know, I have Donny Osmond as my partner this season and when I found out, I had him I was so excited. I’m a fan of his; I think he’s so great and he’s such a nice person. It’s going to be really, really fun season for me. We’ve had a few rehearsals so far in Utah and it’s going really well.

Donny has been in the industry since he was five years old, so he’s going to bring so much to this competition and he wants to work really hard. With ballroom dancing — it’s very different from any other form of dancing — so he’s got to muster technique and work on his posture. He wants to bring out the technical side of ballroom, but he also wants to do a good job of entertaining the audience, which is what I want to do as well.

I think you’ll definitely be surprised every week with Donny and me. We just want the audience to be wondering what we’re going to do next!

Donny and I have so much fun together. He makes me laugh. The first day, I met his five sons and his wife, who all came to support him in rehearsal. It’s going to be a big family affair and I’m sure they’re going to be there every week.
Me outside my hotel in Utah on the way to rehearsals.

Me outside my hotel in Utah on the way to rehearsals.

Donny’s sister Marie Osmond has given him the advice to be prepared to work really hard. He has his stage show with Marie in Vegas as well so he’s incredibly busy doing that and rehearsing for DWTS. He’s in really good shape, slim and toned. And he’s got the right attitude, dedicated to working hard and putting on a show.

From my experience, looking at Donny, he definitely has the potential to be in the finals and win DWTS. But we haven’t seen our competition yet, and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens on that first show. I’ve finished second on the show twice — with Joey Fatone and Warren Sapp. Third time’s the lucky one, maybe?! This time I might get that mirror ball trophy!

Osmond wife makes her mark in SCERA’s 'Joseph'

Rebekah Osmond performing during in the final dress rehearsal of the play "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on Thursday, July 30th. The play opens on the at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre on the 31st and runs until the 15th.

OREM -- With more than 80 talented cast members doing their "thing" in the SCERA Shell Outdoor theater's current production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," it's pretty difficult to find a standout. However, by virtue of name recognition, four do. They're Osmonds -- and not one of them is male.

Rebekah Osmond, wife of Michael Osmond of the Osmond's Second Generation, and the couple's three daughters; Suzannah, 11, Sarah, 9, and Sasha, 8 are sharing the stage.

For Rebekah Osmond, being cast in "Joseph" is like life repeating itself.

"It just feels like I have come full circle," Rebekah said. "Ten years ago I was on tour with 'Joseph.' We had two babies on tour. I was playing in the ensemble."

She remembers being on tour with the Second Generation Osmond boys who were cast as title character Joseph's brothers in the national tour. It was great family bonding time because they shared so much time together on and off stage.

Now Rebekah Osmond is cast as one of three lead narrator roles in SCERA's production. She says it's her dream role. Her daughters are part of the children's chorus and ensemble.

"Every time I see them on stage I cry," she said. "When we go home after rehearsal, they pretend to be the narrators."

The production's narration is shared between Rebekah Osmond, Shoni Winkel and Stephanie Lewis. Rebekah says she is inspired by the threesome's tight harmonies on stage and the friendships they've developed.

"I used to sing tight harmonies with my sisters," she said. "It reminds me of them."

The Osmond connection to "Joseph" is so big, it is almost a part of the family's trademark. Donny Osmond played Joseph for six years in London. David Osmond, Rebekah's brother-in-law, toured with the North American Tour and a year later was joined by the other brothers of the Second Generation, including Michael, alongside Rebekah Osmond. Most recently David reprised a performance of "Joseph" May 25-June 7 with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera company.

Nathan Osmond, one of David's brothers, remembers when the brothers were performing with David at Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City.

"I went straight from the plane landing from my mission to Kingsbury Hall. The first time I saw David after my mission he had long hair and was wearing a loin cloth," Nathan said. "The first night home most missionaries are showing pictures. I was learning songs."

With all that name recognition, Rebekah Osmond says she feels the pressure to be on top of her game each night.

"I feel like I have a lot to live up to. I feel required to give 100 percent, and more so, because it's 'Joseph,' " she said. "People expect perfection from Osmonds."

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" plays Mondays and Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. through Aug. 15 at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater, 699 S. State St., Orem. For more information, call (801) 225-2569.

Marie Osmond's Show Not Going Forward

ETonline.com

ET breaks the news that Marie Osmond's highly anticipated talk show "Marie," which was slated for a Fall 2009 launch, will not be going forward.

Program Partners cites the current economic downturn for the reason behind the decision.

But in spite of the news, Marie stays her positive self and still hopes to have a talk show one day.

"I want to express my deep appreciation for the faithful support and dedication shown by the numerous stations," Marie stated from backstage at the Flamingo hotel showroom. "It was my sincere desire to return their enthusiastic responses by producing an exceptional talk show for their fall schedules; produced with the high quality that is associated with the Marie Osmond brand for over four decades. This project, under proper conditions, still remains a strong passion of mine."

But Marie fans need not worry. Marie and her famous brother Donny are going strong in Las Vegas for their historic reunion show, which has been extended for two more years at the Flamingo hotel.
